Excavating my dreams

Into a humming memory

Devoiced of meaning
I turned backwards
And forwards
half-conscious on my bed .

‘Andy’ you said me pulling back

stealing the sentence

from my lips

‘You look like you’ve slept

through a war’

‘Allie, I,I, I’

I froze stuck on the words

Falling back asleep

Almost if I had never awoke.
